Life on this planet is becoming increasingly uncertain. There’s the climate change, increasing violence, increasing intolerance of those who are considered different, the Covid Pandemic, the death of loved ones and grief, etc. Where I live there is extreme drought and wild fires. We could have to bug out if there is a lightening strike or someone purposely sets a fire. My husband is quite ill. My goals, which have given me purpose, are becoming harder to achieve…I am an author.
Without going into the details, explanations which would be lengthy, I would like to know more effective ways to reach equanimity over and over again. I can achieve it through meditation, but something comes up again and equanimity can instantly be gone.
I would appreciate your suggestions. Thanks.
Dear Viv,
I am sorry to hear you are going through tough times. I find focusing on the immediate helps and being grateful for small successes like a new bloom in my garden. Taking time to notice things in nature like the sun-rise, the play of light and mutating colours on the ocean where I live. They all give me immense pleasure and keep insecurities at bay.

Dear Sey,
Thank you so much for your response. Interesting that you should call me Viv. That was my husband’s first wife. I’m Vi…short for Violet.
Thanks for the nature tips. Nature around here is dying from lack of water, so I appreciate it all the more. At least its finally raining some. I live in the mountains. Right now, I just daily have to lift myself above the negative, and yes, being in the moment helps. Watching less news also helps. Appreciating small things also helps.
Thank you for your kindness. That helps a lot.
