Excuse the cliche, but what do you guys think of the idea of a social media revolution. Combining the communities of say Collective-Evolution, Represent.Us, OptOut Life, Occupy Wall Street, “woke celebrity” endorsements, and other movements like them, what if we were to start a conglomerate social movement. All those movements have in common the desire to change the system as is. I’d like to see a platform akin to vines, popularized a few years ago to sustain a light, buoyant tone to the idea. We can have regular, but informed citizens voice their opinions, discontents, questions, etc about the current state of things. I believe a lot of woke communities fail at reaching a broader audience because of the sheer density of the subject matter as well as the woohoo nature of the consciousness agenda.Vine format, IG videos info sharing would be a more palatable way I believe to spread the ethos of change. We could start twitter hashtags like #AskQuestions, #WhyAreWeInSchoolWhen, #FuckAll that address the collective discontent and desire for fundamental change in society. Think of the ALS ice bucket challenge or just the simple phrase “or nah”, how they spread like wildfire across the internet because of their sheer simplicity. Leaning on the general publics discontent with student loans, drug war policy, war in general, political unrest dissatisfied with the system. Essentially I want to use social media meme culture to raise human consciousness. I’m looking for feedback, collaboration, critiques, additions, advice, whatever really.
Thanks
Yes. I think that is good. Go for it. It’s not something I do, but I wish you well in this endeavor.
